The word notes the arrival or a notable person, thing, or event. The theological definition describes the coming or second coming of Christ. That passage above shows us what it is that we're celebrating and meditating on durning advent: Christ takes on flesh to deliver us (note this year's title and theme).
For most young moms, this season between Thanksgiving and Christmas is pure chaos. Between pinterest crafts and cookies, parties and programs, coordinating outfits, addressing cards, getting the decoration down (and up!), last minute wrapping, and travel plans, there's hardly time for contemplation.
That's why this advent devotional exists. It's designed to bring the good news of the coming of Christ and the promise of his return straight to your inbox during the advent season. Starting December 1, you'll receive an email containing one of a collection of 25 devotions written by believing moms who are entrepreneurs, chefs, bloggers, photographers, hand letterers, authors, missionaries, and homemakers. Each devotion will contain a 600-900 word entry that explores a different aspect of how Christ is our "Deliverer" and will apply the gospel specifically to common struggles of young moms. Each day will also include 2-3 questions for reflection or application. We recommend journaling your responses or using them as discussion questions with other young moms in your world.
It is our prayer that this devotional will help transform your advent season from a time of rushing and surviving to resting and savoring the good news of a savior who doesn’t just rescue you from death and hell, but who delivers you from sin and hopelessness daily.
